In this video we will share a simple strategy for downsizing your holiday decor.

Most of us have accumulated an excessive amount of holiday decor. Whether you purchased it, received it as gifts, made it yourself, or it was made by others (usually our kids), it may have gotten a bit out of control over the years.

Making downsizing holiday decor manageable

If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the number of holiday tubs, boxes or storage spaces involving holiday items, it may be time to do something about it! Before you can take action, however, you must make a firm decision and resolve that you are going to reduce your holiday decor!

Here are the five steps we talked about in the video:

Find a space where you get everything out and go through it.

Categorize the items into these sections:

  • Keep for future use (keep and use)
  • Give to family or friends
  • Donate
  • Dispose

Write down any stories or history related to items in the “give to family/friends” category.

Set a date or deadline for gifting items or taking items to donation site.

Pack up only those items that you plan to keep for future use and store until next year or for an upcoming move to a new place.

    Tell your stories

This is a perfect time to share some stories and reminisce a bit! You can do it! And you will feel so much better afterward!.

    Have a wonderful holiday!
